OUR PROCESS: THE DETAILS
We understand that choosing the perfect Pomsky companion involves more than just falling in love with a cute face; it's about ensuring a seamless and informed experience from the very beginning. In this section, we aim to provide you with comprehensive insights into our pricing structure, waitlist processes, and delivery options. Our commitment to transparency is rooted in the belief that well-informed buyers make the happiest pet parents, and we are here to guide you every step of the way, so you can confidently embark on your journey to finding your furever friend.
01
PRICING
Our puppies are priced at $2,500. This includes all age-appropriate vaccinations to protect them from common infectious diseases, standard deworming to eliminate any parasites, regular veterinary examinations to monitor their health and development, socialization/desensitization to ensure they are well-adjusted and behaviorally sound, and beginning obedience and potty training. Included as well is the temperament testing conducted when the puppies are around 6 weeks old. This helps you to understand each puppy’s unique personality and behavior, allowing us to match them with the best-suited owner and environment. Our goal is to ensure that the owners have a good understanding of their individual puppy so it can thrive in its new home. We also offer lifetime breeder support to help with any questions or concerns you may have once your puppy is home. Puppies will also be sent home a welcome home package which includes a unique puppy information kit customized to the individual puppy, educational resources for first-time owners, health certificates, vaccination records, a starter bag of food, and a blanket or toy with the mother's and littermate's scents to help ease their transition to their forever homes. Microchipping is also available as an additional option for identification purposes.
Payment plans are available. If desired, please let us know in advance. Payment should begin as soon as possible, either BEFORE puppies are born, or shortly after to allow you enough time to have the puppy paid for in full by the time they are ready to go home.
02
WAITLIST RETAINER
We maintain a limited waitlist for families eager to welcome one of our Pomsky puppies into their homes. Please note that we rarely have puppies available for families who are not on our waitlist, as most of our puppies are reserved before they are even born. Joining the waitlist allows you to reserve a spot for an Upcoming or Future Litter, ensuring you have the opportunity to bring home a puppy that’s perfect for your family. A $500 nonrefundable retainer fee is required to hold an available puppy for you or to make a waitlist reservation to secure a puppy from an Upcoming Litter or a Future Litter. The retainer fee will be applied as a $500 discount off the total price of a puppy, with the remaining balance due at pick up, upon delivery, or before shipping. No puppy will leave our care until a final payment is made. For families looking to reserve more than one puppy, a separate retainer fee is needed for each reservation.
As a small kennel focused on quality over quantity, we maintain a very limited waitlist to minimize wait times and ensure the best experience for our families. We’re always happy to share how many families are currently on the list and provide an estimated time frame for when a puppy might be available to you. While we’ll do our best to honor preferences for traits like color, gender, and coat type, please keep in mind that nature plays the biggest role, and specific preferences or timing cannot be guaranteed. As the safety and well-being of our puppies is our priority, we reserve the right to refuse the sale of a puppy for any reason, with or without disclosure of that reasoning.
We do not have payment options on our website as this allows us to ask questions, learn more about you, and ensure we are making the best match before moving forward with a reservation. Once you’ve completed an application and we’ve discussed the process, you’ll have the option to sign a waitlist agreement and submit the retainer fee. Doing so demonstrates your commitment to this important decision and ensures you’re ready to take the necessary steps to be a responsible Pomsky parent.
If you are interested being added to our waitlist, please complete an application. If you have any additional questions, please contact us.
03
WAITLIST PROCESS
At Southpaw Pomskies, families on our waitlist are given priority for all of our puppies. Names are added to the list in the order that reservations are received, and families are contacted in that order once a litter is announced. Please note that if you’ve recently joined the waitlist, you may not be contacted for the very next litter, as we follow the established order. However, you’ll be notified as soon as a puppy becomes available for you!
PUPPY SELECTION PROCESS
Final puppy selection usually takes place around six (6) weeks after birth. At this time, we conduct temperament testing to assess each puppy’s unique personality and create a detailed profile for our waitlist families. We then arrange video calls so families can meet the puppies, ask questions, and learn more about each one.
For the health and safety of our puppies and their mother, in-person visits are not permitted before the puppies turn 8 weeks old. However, we’re happy to schedule additional video calls upon request to ensure you feel confident in your choice.
FLEXIBILITY AND OPTIONS
Mother Nature always has the final say, so while we can’t guarantee specific coat or eye colors, we ensure every puppy is matched based on temperament and compatibility with your family. On selection day, you’ll have the option to choose a puppy from any available litters or pass and remain on the waitlist for a future litter.
Some reasons families might choose to stay on the waitlist include:
-
Preferring a puppy from a different litter
-
Looking for a specific gender not available
-
Timing not being ideal
If you pass, your spot on the waitlist remains secure. Once you’ve selected a puppy, your name will be removed from the list.
COMMUNICATION
We will notify you in advance of important dates like selection day. If we don’t hear back from you during the process, we must respect other families on the list and will move to the next in line. If we’re unable to reach you, your name will be moved to the bottom of the list. However, if something unexpected arises or you need more time, you are welcome to stay on the waitlist to select a puppy at a later date.
BREEDER PICKS
To preserve the quality of our breeding program and the Pomsky breed, Southpaw Pomskies reserves the right to first and second picks of each litter. Please note these are only placeholders and breeder picks do not occur every litter.
If you have any questions about the waitlist or selection process, feel free to reach out! We’re here to make this experience as smooth and exciting as possible.
